Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has voiced support for a joint statement released by European leaders regarding the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
In a post on X/Twitter Sunday, Zelenskyy stated, “The end of the war must be just”. He expressed gratitude to “all who stand with Ukraine and our people, defending the vital security interests of our European nations and working for peace in Ukraine”. He affirmed Ukraine’s full appreciation and support for the European declaration advocating for a peaceful resolution.
The joint statement, released ahead of a scheduled meeting between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, acknowledged and welcomed Trump’s stated efforts to bring an end to the killing in Ukraine and establish a just peace. However, it underscored that any successful approach must combine active diplomacy, continued support for Ukraine and pressure on the Russian Federation to cease its illegal war.
