Data released Friday indicates a rise in commercial vehicle traffic on German autobahns. The Federal Office for Logistics and Mobility (BALM) and the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) report a calendar and seasonally adjusted 2.3 percent increase in toll-liable trucks with four or more axles during July 2025 compared to June 2025.
The calendar-adjusted truck toll performance index for July was 1.1 percent higher than the same month in 2024.
Statisticians emphasize a strong correlation between this index and broader economic activity, particularly within the manufacturing sector. The increase in truck mileage is viewed as a reflection of corresponding activity and demand within the production of goods, suggesting transport needs are currently aligned with industrial output. The data underscores the link between logistical performance and the overall health of the German economy.
