Men’s Suicide Risk Linked to Traditional Gender Roles | Paula Lambert

Television presenter Paula Lambert has drawn a connection between patriarchal structures and elevated suicide rates among men, aligning her observations with findings from a recent Swiss study.

Speaking to the “Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung”, Lambert asserted that the study demonstrates a significantly higher risk of suicide among men who adhere to traditional gender roles. She emphasized the need for greater recognition of this correlation, stating that men could flourish and experience greater well-being in more egalitarian societies.

Lambert also expressed concern regarding a perceived resurgence of traditional roles, noting expectations placed on women’s appearance alongside what she described as a stagnation of male development within patriarchal frameworks. She suggests that social media platforms, referencing formats like Onlyfans, may be contributing to this trend, describing the situation as disheartening. Lambert contends that patriarchy is detrimental not only to women, but also to men’s overall happiness and development.
