The 82nd Venice Film Festival concluded with a cascade of awards recognizing diverse cinematic talents and compelling narratives. American director Jim Jarmusch secured the prestigious Golden Lion for his film “Father Mother Sister Brother” a work he also penned. The win solidifies Jarmusch’s reputation as a groundbreaking figure in independent cinema.

Luna Wedler, a rising German actress, was recognized with the Marcello Mastroianni Award for her performance in Ildikó Enyedi’s “Silent Friend” showcasing a new wave of European acting talent.

The Grand Jury Silver Lion was awarded to Kaouther Ben Hania for “The Voice of Hind Hajab” a film lauded for its powerful storytelling. Benny Safdie received the Silver Lion for Best Director for his work on “The Smashing Machine” acknowledging his innovative cinematic vision.

Xin Zhilei claimed the Coppa Volpi for Best Actress for her portrayal in Cai Shangjun’s Chinese film “Ri Gua Zhong Tian” (“The Sun Rises On Us All”), representing a significant recognition for Asian cinema. Toni Servillo was selected as Best Actor for his performance in Paolo Sorrentino’s “La Grazia” demonstrating the enduring appeal of Italian cinema.

The award for Best Screenplay went to Valérie Donzelli and Gilles Marchand for “À Pied D’Oeuvre” (“At Work”), a project in which Donzelli also directed. Gianfranco Rosi received a Special Jury Prize for his film “Sotto Le Nuvole” (“Below The Clouds”), rounding out an evening celebrating a wide range of filmmaking achievements.
