Max Verstappen secured victory at the Formula 1 race in Monza, Italy, leading a competitive field across the weekend’s action. Lando Norris of McLaren finished in second place, while his teammate Oscar Piastri completed the podium.
The race began with a notable incident in the opening lap, as Verstappen and Norris made contact, briefly relinquishing Verstappen’s lead. The subsequent events involved numerous pit stops and strategic overtakes, maintaining a high level of excitement throughout the event.
A late-race team order issued by McLaren sparked considerable discussion amongst fans and analysts. Initially, Piastri was called into the pits, followed shortly by Norris. A delay during Norris’s pit stop unexpectedly placed Piastri ahead, prompting McLaren to instruct Piastri to allow Norris to pass. Piastri duly complied.
Behind the leading trio, Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) secured fourth place, followed by George Russell (Mercedes) and Lewis Hamilton (Ferrari). Alex Albon (Williams) and Gabriel Bortoleto (Sauber) rounded out the top ten points-scoring positions. Kimi Antonelli (Mercedes) contributed two points to his team’s tally in ninth place, while Isack Hadjar (Racing Bulls) secured a single point in tenth. German driver Nico Hülkenberg (Sauber) was unfortunately sidelined from the race due to a mechanical issue shortly before the start. The next race in the Formula 1 calendar is scheduled for two weeks in Azerbaijan.
