However, he was unable to improve his pace throughout the session and eventually dropped back to sixth place. George Russell faced technical difficulties and had to pull his Mercedes off track at Turn 1, eliminating his chances of a strong placement.
During the decisive phase, Lewis Hamilton initially moved to the forefront before Lando Norris took control with a remarkable lap. Charles Leclerc and Andrea Kimi Antonelli also delivered strong performances, finishing just behind the two frontrunners.
