Drivers face higher costs at the pump..

Drivers in Germany are facing increased costs at the petrol pump compared to the previous week.

According to the latest fuel price analysis by the ADAC, the average price for a liter of Super E10 currently stands at €1.660, a rise of 0.5 cents compared to last week. Diesel prices have seen a slightly more noticeable increase, with the price per liter rising by 0.9 cents to an average of €1.582 across the country.

This shift has narrowed the price difference between petrol and diesel. A liter of diesel now costs an average of just 7.8 cents less than a liter of Super E10. The ADAC notes this difference is “noticeably too small” particularly considering the substantially lower taxation rate of approximately 20 cents per liter for diesel. Based on the two key factors influencing fuel prices-the Brent crude oil price and the Euro/US Dollar exchange rate-both fuel types would have been expected to see lower prices on a week-over-week basis.
