Acknowledging bureaucratic obstacles hindering the development of digital innovation, Federal Minister for Digital and Affairs Karsten Wildberger (CDU) has pledged to address the issue. Speaking to RTL and ntv, Minister Wildberger stated that current regulations prioritize risk mitigation over fostering innovation, a situation he described as unhelpful.
He confirmed ongoing discussions with the European Commission within the current review process, aiming to modify this approach. Despite existing regulations and ordinances, Wildberger emphasized the potential for greater progress.
The Minister also praised Chancellor Friedrich Merz (CDU) for highlighting digital topics, stating that the ministry and its focus on digitalization might not exist without his leadership. He highlighted the Chancellor’s prioritization of both artificial intelligence and digitalization, characterizing it as a crucial driver of progress and a sector where Germany needs to rapidly catch up.
