Members of the Green Party parliamentary group have voiced strong criticisms regarding the federal government’s budgetary plans. Britta Haßelmann, parliamentary group leader, characterized the current approach as involving “delays and budgetary maneuvers” during a session within the Bundestag.
Haßelmann emphasized the urgent need for decisive action and future-oriented investment. Priorities outlined included substantial injections into the nation’s deteriorating infrastructure, alongside crucial support for municipalities struggling with a significant backlog of investment projects. She further stressed the importance of consistent investment in climate protection measures and the continued expansion of renewable energy sources.
In related commentary, Haßelmann directed criticism towards Federal Minister for Economic Affairs, Katherina Reiche (CDU), alleging an attempt to reinterpret the energy transition monitoring report to justify investments in fossil gas. This effort, according to Haßelmann, would ultimately fail, reiterating the necessity for continued and prioritized expansion of renewable energy infrastructure.
