Trump, Xi to Meet at APEC Summit

Following a phone call, US President Donald Trump has announced plans for a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping. The meeting is scheduled to take place at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in South Korea in November, Trump confirmed via his social media platform, “Truth Social.

Furthermore, the US President indicated a planned trip to China in the early months of next year, with President Xi Jinping also expected to visit the United States at a suitable point in time.

Trump described the phone conversation as “very productive” stating that the two leaders made progress on a range of critical issues. These included trade relations, measures to combat the flow of fentanyl, discussions surrounding the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and the pending agreement concerning the social media platform TikTok.
