The appointment of Evelyn Palla as the new Chairwoman of the Board of Deutsche Bahn has been met with positive reactions from passenger advocacy groups and trade unions.
Pro Bahn, a prominent passenger rights organization, confirmed that Palla was among a limited number of considered candidates, particularly focusing on internal options. According to Detlef Neuß, Chairman of Pro Bahn, her track record in successfully restructuring DB Regio made her a particularly strong contender. “We consider Ms. Palla to be quite suitable for the position of head of Deutsche Bahn” Neuß stated.
The General German Trade Union (GDL) echoed this sentiment, describing the selection of Palla as “an encouraging signal”. GDL Chairman Mario Reiß emphasized that her extensive experience within both Deutsche Bahn and regional transport sectors is a significant advantage. “We welcome the election of an experienced leader who has left her mark both within the rail network and in regional transport” Reiß commented. He further stressed the importance of concrete actions following this appointment, emphasizing the need for measures that benefit employees.
