Following the release of her extensive autobiography, former German Chancellor Angela Merkel has indicated she has no plans to undertake a similarly large-scale writing project again.
In remarks to the “Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung”, Merkel described the process of writing “Freiheit” (Freedom), her 700-page memoir co-authored with her former head of office, Beate Baumann, as a significant undertaking. She stated it was a unique and demanding project that she does not anticipate replicating. While not ruling out future written contributions, Merkel emphasized she will not author another book of such considerable scope.
She expressed considerable respect for journalists who regularly produce written content, highlighting the considerable effort involved in daily newspaper writing. The former Chancellor’s autobiography has generated substantial public interest and offers a detailed account of her time in office.
