A major operation targeting illegal trade in doping substances and prescription medication has been conducted by the Munich Public Prosecutor’s Office I and Customs authorities. The investigation, initiated following the interception of a suspicious postal package in the Kissingen district, has resulted in a large-scale raid and the arrest of several individuals.
The proceedings involve twelve suspects facing allegations of violating anti-doping and pharmaceutical laws. Authorities suspect that a group of seven individuals, including one woman, operated a trading network dealing in doping substances and prescription drugs between September 2024 and June 2025.
Two of the suspects are alleged to have maintained a storage facility for doping agents and pharmaceuticals in Hamburg, utilized for dispatching shipments to end recipients. Another suspect is believed to have supplied this storage location with doping substances originating from abroad. Over 3,000 individual shipments were dispatched, generating payments exceeding €67,000. The majority of the substances involved were anabolic steroids.
On Tuesday, investigators executed searches at the residences of eleven suspects and a garden plot utilized as a storage location. Four individuals were taken into custody and placed in pre-trial detention. Significant quantities of doping substances and electronic data storage devices were seized during the searches. As part of asset recovery measures, two vehicles and banking funds have been seized. The investigation was triggered by the interception of the suspect postal package.
