Two Dead, Homicide Investigation Launched

A fatal fire has claimed the lives of two men in Berlin-Marzahn, prompting a criminal investigation. The blaze, which erupted around 3:00 AM on Sunday on Hornetweg, completely engulfed a semi-detached house. Neighbors alerted emergency services, who responded to the scene.

Firefighters discovered two deceased individuals during search and rescue efforts; their identities are yet to be definitively confirmed. Four other men escaped the fire, including three aged 33, 38 and 45. Two of the escaped men sustained significant injuries requiring hospitalization, with one patient’s condition listed as critical.

The property was occupied by eight construction workers at the time of the incident, serving as a worker residence. Authorities, including Berlin’s 8th Homicide Commission and the public prosecutor’s office, have initiated an investigation into the incident, initially suspecting both completed and attempted murder. Current investigations indicate no signs of politically or religiously motivated involvement.
