Ukrainian Group Rejects Proposed Peace Plan as Pro-Kremlin

The Alliance of Ukrainian Organizations in Germany has issued a scathing critique of a recently proposed 28-point plan aimed at resolving the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, arguing it fundamentally undermines principles of international law and risks emboldening Russian aggression. In a statement released to the German media network “Redaktionsnetzwerk Deutschland” board member Nataliya Pryhornytska asserted the plan represents “no path to a just and sustainable peace” and instead appears to prioritize appeasement over accountability.

Pryhornytska’s criticism centers on the perception that the plan, details of which remain largely undisclosed, implicitly rewards Russia for its actions, failing to address the severe human rights violations and war crimes perpetrated in Russian-occupied territories. “A true peace for the people living in these areas can only be achieved when these territories are de-occupied” she emphasized, adding that a just resolution demands a comprehensive investigation into atrocities and the prosecution of those responsible.

The Alliance’s position is particularly sharp, accusing the proposal of punishing the victim – Ukraine – while seemingly validating the aggressor’s actions. This approach, they warn, sends a dangerous signal globally, suggesting military force is an acceptable means of altering borders and disregarding established international norms. “Such an approach would not only destroy Ukraine, but send a signal worldwide that military violence is a legitimate means of changing borders” Pryhornytska stated.

The organization insists that a legitimate peace must be founded on adherence to international law and the principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity. Deviation from this framework, according to the Alliance, would constitute a capitulation to violence and a betrayal of both Ukraine’s future and the broader project of a united Europe. This stance highlights the growing concern amongst Ukrainian diaspora groups regarding potential compromises that could compromise Ukraine’s long-term security and territorial sovereignty.
