Both students and teachers have seen an increase in the proportion of individuals with a migration background over the past five years. In 2019, 26 % of students and 9 % of teachers had a migration background, a rise of three and two percentage points, respectively, to 29 % and 11 % in 2024. These figures were shared by Destatis on Tuesday, coinciding with the International Day of Education on January 24.
