Federal Justice Minister Stefanie Hubig (SPD) has refused to allow Palantir software from the U.S. company to be used by federal security agencies. “I do not see Palantir software coming to federal agencies” Hubig told the “Rheinische Post” (Friday edition). “I take the reservations specifically against this software seriously”. She added that tools for automated data analysis require particular caution: “This is about sensitive data, and we must not fall into dangerous dependencies”. The Federal Ministry of the Interior has been reviewing the potential use of Palantir software, for instance, for the Federal Police. Several states already employ Palantir technology in their police work-Bavaria, Hesse, and North Rhine‑Westphalia-while other states refuse to adopt it.
