30 a..m. Technical Glitch Forces 800 Passengers to Exit

The airport’s regular operations have resumed. The police intervention was declared over, the airport authority said on Friday.

Passengers are still experiencing longer waiting times, so the airport apologises for the inconvenience and asks affected travellers to bear with the delays.

Earlier that morning, at about 6:30 a.m., the Federal Police cleared the security area of the terminals at Cologne/Bonn Airport as a precaution. The authority said the action was triggered by a temporary technical fault in the security screening system during the introduction of new equipment.

Consequently, about 800 passengers who were in the security area had to leave it and undergo a re‑screening to comply with regulations. During the intervention, access to the security zone was temporarily closed.

Regular service resumed again around 9:30 a.m. after the intervention finished, and the security area was reopened.
