Germany Issues Comprehensive Middle East Travel Warning Amid Escalating Air Strikes

Following the Israeli and U.S. air strikes on Iranian targets and the resulting military response, Germany’s Foreign Office has issued travel warnings for almost the entire Middle East. In the warning released on Saturday, the countries explicitly named are Israel and Iran, but also Lebanon, Jordan, Syria, Iraq, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Yemen.

The text states that further attacks can be expected. The airspace over Israel and Iran is already closed, and authorities warn that additional airspace restrictions could be imposed at any time. Several airlines have already suspended flights to the region.

German nationals in the area are advised to register on the Foreign Office’s crisis preparedness list. They are urged to take warnings about impending air attacks seriously, seek shelter as soon as an alarm sounds-either in a nearby safe room or inside a building- and stay away from windows. Local authorities and security forces’ instructions should be followed.
