SAP’s board appears to be preparing another change. Thomas Saueressig, who currently runs the company’s customer‑service function, is slated to take on additional responsibility for sales, according to the Handelsblatt’s Tuesday edition. The DAX‑listed company has not yet responded to the report.
Saueressig joined SAP’s board in 2019. He first led product development, then moved in 2024 to oversee the “Customer Services & Delivery” division, which is charged with deploying and supporting cloud‑based solutions for clients-a unit that was carved out of the sales organization. In the new arrangement he will supervise all customer‑facing activities.
The purpose of the reshuffle, it seems, is to lighten the load on chair‑person Christian Klein. After former sales chief Scott Russell departed in the summer of 2024, Klein has been the top‑management point person for sales, with day‑to‑day operations handled by Manos Raptopoulos and Jan Gilg. Until now, SAP had not maintained a separate board‑level unit dedicated to sales.
