Germany Launches Hotline for Iranian Citizens Targeted by Spy Activities amid Tensions

The Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution (BfV) is responding to the situation surrounding Iran by setting up a special reporting point for Iranian citizens in Germany. According to the Tuesday edition of “Bild”, the office will serve as a contact hub for Iranians who feel threatened by Iranian intelligence activities while in Germany. Those who believe they are under the target of Iranian intelligence, or who have observed such activities, can reach the agency by phone or e‑mail, the BfV said in response to a “Bild” inquiry.

The initiative follows growing concerns about an escalating threat to Iranian nationals in Germany. “Bild” reports that Iranian intelligence services are currently intensifying efforts to identify and surveil opposition figures within Germany. The German government describes these actions as “transnational repression” meaning that a state uses its agencies beyond its borders to monitor, intimidate, or apply pressure on political opponents.
