German Chancellor Friedrich Merz (CDU) called Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on Tuesday. In the conversation, the two leaders discussed the war in the Middle East and its repercussions for the South Caucasus, according to Government Spokesman Stefan Kornelius.
Merz also praised the ongoing peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, underscoring its significance for regional stability. Both officials see opportunities to deepen bilateral relations and to strengthen Azerbaijan’s ties with the European Union.
