Opening the 27th round of the Bundesliga, RB Leipzig demolished TSG 1899 Hoffenheim 5‑0 in a stunning win. By halftime the hosts already led 4‑0, leaving the visitors with little chance.
Brajan Gruda opened the scoring in the 17th minute on a rebound from goalkeeper Oliver Baumann. Four minutes later, Christoph Baumgartner headed in a cross from David Raum, making it 2‑0. Nine minutes after that, Baumgartner doubled the tally with a skilful curled shot from a pass by Gruda in the 30th minute.
Shortly before the break, Gruda completed a brace. After a double‑pass with Yan Diomande, he put the ball flat at the second post and finished it himself at 44 minutes. In the second half, Benjamin Henrichs sealed the rout in the 78th minute, scoring shortly after his substitution.
Hoffenheim struggled to find footing against the dominant Leipzig side, who stayed solid defensively and turned their chances into goals with surgical precision. The visitors managed to keep pace only early on before Leipzig took full control of the match.
The result lifted Leipzig to third place, while Hoffenheim slipped to fifth. Both clubs now finish level on points, separated by a narrow goal difference of just three.
