Development Minister Reem Alabali Radovan (SPD) strongly criticized the attack by the United States and Israel on Iran. “I have serious doubts that this assault was compliant with international law” she told the news portal T‑Online. She expressed deep concern that international rules are losing weight and emphasized the necessity of continuing to rely on the international order and the rule of law.
In Iran, people cannot be supported on the ground at present because cooperation with the regime or Iranian organizations is not possible; “Iran is not a partner country for development cooperation” Alabali Radovan said. Nevertheless, aid efforts are being increased in Lebanon, where the newly erupted conflict between Israel and Hezbollah has displaced many people. “Therefore we are supporting those people now, in addition to the humanitarian assistance from the Foreign Office, with funds from our ministry so that they can receive better on‑site care” she added.
Alabali Radovan also rejected, despite talks between the Interior Ministry and the Afghan government, any contact with the Taliban. “I am against normalizing relations with the Taliban”. However, she stressed that people should not be abandoned. For the international community, the message is clear: “Aid must remain possible without legitimizing the Taliban”.
