The first half of the Bundesliga match saw a lively start between 1. FC Köln and Eintracht Frankfurt, although neither side managed to convert their chances into goals. Köln dominated possession, while Frankfurt focused more on counter-attacks.
After halftime, Eintracht initially gained control of the game, but the match became eventful from the 66th minute. Jonathan Burkardt took the lead for SGE after a solo effort by Fares Chaibi from five yards out. Shortly after, Arnaud Kalimuendo made it 2-0.
However, Köln responded almost immediately with a deflected shot from Jakub Kaminski. The equalizer finally arrived in the 83rd minute, courtesy of a combination involving the recently substituted players Luca Waldschmidt, Marius Bülter, and Alessio Castro-Montes.
With the draw, Köln maintained their narrow two-point cushion above the relegation zone. Meanwhile, SGE now trails six points behind Bayer Leverkusen, who occupy sixth place in the standings. Köln’s next fixture will be a relegation battle against Werder Bremen next Sunday, while Eintracht Frankfurt will visit the relegation-threatened VfL Wolfsburg the day before.
