Following the two-day pilot strike, cabin crew at Lufthansa launched a separate two-day industrial action. According to the flight attendants’ union, UFO, these work stoppages are scheduled to continue until 11:59 PM on Thursday. Affected are all flights operated by Deutsche Lufthansa AG departing from Frankfurt and Munich airports, as well as all departures from Lufthansa subsidiary Cityline from Frankfurt, Munich, Berlin, Bremen, Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Hannover, Köln, and Stuttgart.
The root cause of this strike lies in the unresolved wage negotiations concerning a new framework agreement. The union feels there has been insufficient movement from the employer’s side. A key element of the industrial action is a rally planned for Frankfurt on Wednesday, coinciding with the celebrations for Lufthansa’s centenary.
Furthermore, the association Cockpit announced that Lufthansa pilots plan to strike again on Thursday and Friday. This action will impact Deutsche Lufthansa, along with its affiliated companies Lufthansa Cargo, Lufthansa Cityline, and Eurowings, though Eurowings’ strike will only take place on Thursday. Flights destined for the Middle East are exempt from the strikes.
