The coalition committee involving the Union and the SPD concluded its session Tuesday evening after about six hours of discussions but without reaching any specific decisions. According to reports following the meeting, the parties agreed upon a general “working process” for moving forward with their planned initiatives in the coming weeks, although no exact details were disclosed. Furthermore, a press conference was not announced after the session. Participants reported to “Politico” that the atmosphere had been notably positive and trusting.
This outcome presents a marked contrast to the previous coalition meeting held at the Villa Borsig. That session reportedly ended in various ways, including rumors of intense feuds and the scrapping of the announced “relief premium” of 1,000 euros by the Bundesrat.
Nonetheless, the morning after the high-level meeting saw a period of calm among CDU, CSU, and SPD, which was a significant improvement from its predecessor.
