Ditib Warns of Potential Attacks on Muslims Amid Growing Concerns and Lack of Solidarity

Following the attack on a mosque in Memmingen, the Ditib Mosque Association has issued a warning about potential further attacks against Muslims. The association’s General Secretary, Eyüp Kalyon, also expressed disappointment regarding a perceived lack of solidarity within society.

Speaking to the “Tagesspiegel”, Kalyon stated that the incident has put the community on high alert. He highlighted the profound anxiety experienced by parents whose children attend these mosques. While the community’s response during the attack demonstrated self-confidence-with members immediately contacting the police-Kalyon maintained that fears of more serious incidents and harm remain among Muslims in Germany.

Regarding the Memmingen incident itself, Kalyon framed the event as a clear signal, stating, “Something like this is a signal: You don’t belong here”. However, he stressed the need for political action, expressing his hope that history will not repeat itself and that politicians will treat the concerns of Muslims with the same attention and gravity given to other faith communities.
