German Official Welcomes Investigation into Alleged Iranian Plot Against Jewish Leaders

Felix Klein, the Federal Government Commissioner for Combating Antisemitism, has expressed a strong sense of vindication following reports that investigators successfully uncovered alleged assassination plots targeting Josef Schuster, the President of the Central Council of Jews, and Volker Beck, Chairman of the German-Israeli Society.

Speaking to the “Rheinische Post” (Friday edition), Klein stated that the revelations prove concrete evidence of deadly threat emanating from Iranian state terror, even within Germany’s borders. He emphasized that these discoveries once again highlight the critical role played by security authorities in combating those who seek to destroy the foundations of democracy, showing that they are not deterred by obviously antisemitically motivated murder attempts.

On a personal note, Klein noted his deep connection to both Schuster and Beck, saying he feels immense satisfaction about the investigative success and the resulting rule-of-law proceedings against the suspected perpetrators.
