Klara Schedlich, a Green politician from Berlin, has achieved a significant victory in her legal dispute with former Member of the Bundestag Stefan Gelbhaar, according to reports from the Hamburg Higher Regional Court. The court has granted her permission to make certain statements about Gelbhaar again. However, the decision reportedly established a situation where each party would be allowed to respond to the other’s statements.
The legal process centered on remarks Schedlich made during an affidavit given for the RBB. The public broadcaster had previously covered “MeToo accusations” made by several women against Gelbhaar. Gelbhaar dismissed these allegations as lies, and it was later determined that these accusations were largely false, leading the RBB to issue an apology. Consequently, Gelbhaar lost a secure nomination for the Bundestag election and resigned from the Bundestag in spring 2025.
