Andrea Kimi Antonelli secured victory at the Canadian Grand Prix, further solidifying his lead in the World Championship. The Mercedes driver outpaced Lewis Hamilton in the Ferrari and Max Verstappen in the Red Bull over 68 laps, demonstrating an utterly commanding performance which included setting the fastest lap of the race.
The event began under tricky conditions, with some teams opting for intermediates while others started on dry slicks. The McLaren pilots, who had chosen intermediates, quickly fell behind. Antonelli was able to take the lead early on, overtaking his teammate George Russell, who later retired from the race due to technical issues.
The race saw several incidents and penalties. Nico Hülkenberg made contact and spun in Turn 1, and Charles Leclerc narrowly avoided a crash with the “Wall of Champions”. Hadjar incurred a Stop-and-Go penalty but successfully managed to defend his fifth-place position.
In the final stages, Verstappen attempted to put pressure on Hamilton but was unable to mount a successful attack on the dominant Antonelli. The young driver went on to claim his fourth consecutive Grand Prix win. Completing the points among the top three finishers were Leclerc, Hadjar, and Colapinto.
