Formula 1 multi-time world champion Max Verstappen has extended his contract with Red Bull until the end of the 2030 season, the team announced on Thursday.
Verstappen, who has been driving for the team since 2016, has achieved significant success during his tenure, securing four driver’s championships and two constructors’ championships. Along with Red Bull, he has recorded 71 Grand Prix victories, profoundly influencing the modern era of Formula 1. This extension is viewed as a strong testament to the mutual trust and shared ambition to shape the team’s future.
Team Principal Laurent Mekies stated that the partnership with Verstappen represents one of the greatest success stories in F1. He noted that the decision to continue the collaboration is rooted in the trust built up over many years, alongside Verstappen’s belief in the team’s culture, vision, and people. Verstappen himself expressed his delight regarding the new deal, adding that the team feels like a “second family” to him. He is eager to continue working alongside the team to earn further victories and championships.
The contract extension comes somewhat unexpectedly, given that speculation about a potential departure has surfaced from time to time in the past.
