midfielder Grischa Prömel has moved from TSG Hoffenheim to the club in Cannstatt.. The 31-year-old has signed a contract that runs until June 30, 2029.
For Prömel, the move represents a return to his local region. In the club’s statement, the player commented that the desire to play for VfB has been strong for some time. “I was born in Cannstatt and grew up in Esslingen, and I have always followed VfB throughout the years. In a way, a dream is coming true for me now” he said. Fabian Wohlgemuth, the sports director, added that Prömel possesses excellent footballing abilities, is immensely ambitious, and has gained valuable experience over previous years.
Prömel began his career at TSV Esslingen and Stuttgarter Kickers. He made his Bundesliga debut in the 2018/2019 season for 1. FC Union Berlin. During his time with the Berlin club, he participated in 141 official matches, scoring 20 goals and providing ten assists. Since 2023, he has played for TSG Hoffenheim, where he recorded 14 goals and eight assists in 87 official appearances. Beyond his club career, Prömel represented various German youth national teams, earning 18 caps and winning the silver medal with the Olympic squad in Rio de Janeiro in 2016.
