Christoph Ploß, the Federal Government’s Tourism Coordinator for the CDU party, anticipates a positive summer for tourist regions across Germany. Speaking to the newspapers of the Funke Media Group, he noted that while the crisis in the Middle East has negatively impacted many industries, this situation simultaneously creates opportunities for the German tourism sector. Ploß specifically predicts even stronger demand than in previous years, particularly in the North and Baltic Seas.
Ploß emphasized that the federal government views the tourism industry as an increasingly crucial pillar of the German economy, making a significant contribution to overall growth. He announced that further support is planned for the sector. “We will support the tourism companies and regions in Germany with several initiatives this year, including by making working hours more flexible and increasing investments in the highway and rail network” Ploß stated.
