The German Weather Service (DWD) has issued warnings regarding severe thunderstorms across Southern and Central Germany. The DWD announced on Sunday that the affected areas include parts of the states of Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg, and Saxony. Residents should be prepared for potential flash flooding impacting basements and streets, as well as damage caused by hailstorms to buildings, vehicles, and agricultural crops. Localized lightning strikes are also possible. These current warnings are initially valid until Sunday at 9 p.m., though the DWD stated that an extension or expansion of the warnings to other regions is possible. The root cause of this weather situation is the spread of humid and warm air conducive to thunderstorms across large parts of Germany, while drier air masses remain in place between the North Sea and the Oder river.
