FC St. Pauli has announced the appointment of Marcel Rapp as its new head coach. The 47-year-old arrived at the club following his time at Holstein Kiel and within the youth structure of TSG Hoffenheim.
Rapp spent almost four and a half years coaching KSV Holstein. During his tenure, the team achieved promotion to the Bundesliga in 2024 but subsequently failed to maintain their place in the top flight during their debut season. Before moving to Kiel, the former central defender gained over eight years of experience working in various capacities within the TSG Hoffenheim youth system, where he also served temporarily as interim head coach for the professionals.
Andreas Bornemann, FC St. Pauli’s sporting director, expressed enthusiasm about the signing: “We are pleased that we have won a coach in Marcel Rapp who brings experience from professional German football and has already proven that he can both shape teams and develop players.” Rapp himself views the challenge at FC St. Pauli as exciting and is keen to actively contribute to the further development of the club.
