Germany Dominates Curacao 7-1, Kicking Off WC Journey with Overwhelming Victory

Germany started its run in the 2026 Football World Cup with a commanding 7-1 victory over Curacao. The German team asserted its dominance early on, with Felix Nmecha scoring the opener in the 6th minute after receiving a perfectly delivered pass from Florian Wirtz.

Curacao initially held firm, but Livano Comenencia managed to level the score in the 21st minute, capitalizing on a poorly deflected shot saved by Joshua Kimmich. However, Germany regained the lead in the 38th minute, thanks to Nico Schlotterbeck. Following a corner kick from Nathaniel Brown, Schlotterbeck won the aerial duel and scored the 2-1 goal. Just before the halftime whistle, Kai Havertz sealed a 3-1 advantage from a penalty following a foul on Nmecha in the box. Havertz expertly placed the shot into the opposite corner of the goal.

In the second half, Germany controlled the proceedings and appeared completely in rhythm. Two minutes into the restart, Jamal Musiala capitalized on a run, slotting a precise shot into the bottom left corner. Nathaniel Brown extended the lead to 4-1 in the 68th minute. Deniz Undav scored in the 78th minute, and Kai Havertz added another goal-this time with an open-play finish-in the 88th minute.

Despite the heavy scoreline, Curacao exhibited strong tactical discipline, repeatedly looking to launch dangerous counter-attacks, managing even to secure an offside goal in the 67th minute. With this decisive win, a progression to the Round of 16 is now statistically highly probable for Germany. Their next challenges include matches against the Ivory Coast this coming Saturday and against Ecuador on June 25th.
