Reichinnek Threatens Party Discipline Over Youth Group’s Alleged Extremist Remarks

Heidi Reichinnek, the head of the Left faction, has threatened a strong response from her party following reports concerning alleged statements made by officials of the youth group Linksjugend Solid. Speaking to the “Rheinische Post”, she stated that if the youth association does not take appropriate consequences, the party must step in, declaring that “this kind of situation is unacceptable.”

Reichinnek insisted that concrete measures must be introduced promptly to prevent such occurrences in the future. While acknowledging that Solid had issued a statement distancing itself from the comments, she deemed this merely the bare minimum required. She strongly distanced herself from the remarks, stressing that Stalinism and antisemitism have no place within their party, a principle that must apply even to an independent youth group.

The accusations stem from a report by Bavarian Radio (BR), which detailed how Linksjugend officials had made remarks that included speaking positively about the former Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin, as well as describing the situation in the Gaza conflict as “an Israeli genocide in the name of Judaism.”
