Deutsche Bahn Cuts Change Management Division as Part of Major Restructuring

As part of its planned corporate restructuring, Deutsche Bahn is dismantling a roughly 50-person team focused on change management, according to reports from business circles quoted in Spiegel. This department was established during the tenure of former CEO Richard Lutz and was responsible for initiatives such as the “Bahnsinn Riedbahn” series, which introduced the company’s major overhaul plan. Change managers are employed to guide companies through internal transformation processes.

Bahn boss Evelyn Palla is aiming to cut around 30 percent of roles within the corporate holding, specifically targeting areas where the workforce has grown significantly over the years. Any activities deemed not to add value to the core business are scheduled to be eliminated. Furthermore, a corporate representative described the managers working there as “elite technocrats” with clear contempt.
