Israel Reports Drastic Jump in Iranian Cyberattacks After Tripling Digital Warfare Operations

Israeli security authorities have reported a significant surge in the number of cyberattacks originating from Iran. According to Yossi Karadi, Director General of the National Cyber Defense Center, the scale of digital attacks this year has approximately tripled compared to those registered in 2025. Karadi noted that during the US-Israeli aerial strikes in 2026, his department recorded around 4,800 cyber incidents and hostile online activities, a sharp increase from the roughly 1,600 similar operations documented in the previous year during the conflict with Iran.

Karadi stated that, so far, they have successfully repelled attacks targeting the country’s critical infrastructure. However, to maintain a visible record of success, Iran has since shifted its focus during later attack waves towards less sensitive targets. These have included smaller companies, law firms, and accounting offices in Israel, which have been frequently attacked, often resulting in the deletion of databases. These attacks are carried out using a mix of actors, including specialists from Iran’s own security forces and Revolutionary Guards, as well as digitally skilled activists and organized criminal groups, some of whom operate from outside the country.
