The Federal Government Commissioner for Addiction and Drug Issues, Hendrik Streeck (CDU), is calling for a ban on sweet flavors used in vapes. Speaking to the “Rheinische Post” (Thursday edition), the health policy expert stated, “If it were up to me, I would ban it immediately.” Streeck emphasized that these specific flavorings are designed to draw young people into nicotine dependency. This demand is also supported by the North Rhine-Westphalia Minister of Health, Karl-Josef Laumann (CDU). Regarding vape flavors, Laumann told the newspaper that they “cause enormous damage and it is a crime against young people to lead them into this situation almost playfully.”
