Jörg Dittrich, President of the Central Association of German Crafts (ZDH), issued a warning to his industry regarding support for politically marginal parties, particularly in light of the high approval ratings enjoyed by the AfD.
Speaking to “Bild,” Dittrich expressed his hope that trade workers and masters would look toward the future rather than settling for simple, populist responses. He urged everyone to participate in the democratic discourse by joining political parties.
According to Dittrich, Germany has become a strong economic nation through innovation, diversity, global openness, and diligence-qualities he insists should be brought back into focus. However, he observed that many constituents seem more inclined to vote for “security.” This tendency, he stated, worries him because it pushes politics towards simple answers and populism. He emphasized that the current situation is highly complex and does not offer easy solutions, arguing that the central question must be about which complex answer one finds to face the challenges of our era.
