Germany’s service sector recently achieved increased revenue generation. According to preliminary findings released Monday by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), the industry recorded a real increase of 1.4 percent and a nominal growth of 1.1 percent in April 2026, compared to March 2026-a figure presented after adjusting for calendar and seasonal variations and excluding financial and insurance services. When benchmarked against the same period last year (April 2025), revenues saw a milder real increase of 0.3 percent and a nominal rise of 2.6 percent.
Among the sectors, freelance, scientific, and technical services registered the largest month-on-month revenue growth in April 2026, climbing by 3.0 percent. This was followed closely by other economic services (such as labor brokerage and rental of movable goods), which saw a corresponding increase of 2.2 percent. Moderate real increases were also observed across several areas: the property and housing sector grew by 0.9 percent over the previous month, while information and communications increased by 0.6 percent, and transport and storage registered an increase of 0.5 percent.
