The 39th CDU Federal Party Congress is scheduled to be held in Frankfurt am Main in 2027. CDU General Secretary Carsten Linnemann stated in Berlin on Monday, following a meeting of the executive board and presidency, that the party would be going “to Hesse once again after 25 years.” The specific dates for the party congress are set for November 18 through 20.
Meanwhile, the federal executive board, led by party chairman Friedrich Merz, does not need to face a re-election at this time. The last election took place this February at the party congress in Stuttgart. According to party statutes, new elections are only held every second calendar year, meaning the next election will presumably be in 2028, provided there are no changes before then.
