Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko has issued an urgent warning against further escalating conflict following renewed, severe Russian attacks targeting the capital. Speaking to “Bild am Sonntag,” Klitschko stated that the attacks involving Russian ballistic missiles are worse than anything he has experienced since the start of the war.
He placed the blame for this escalating situation squarely on Russian President Vladimir Putin. In Klitschko’s view, Putin is now under immense pressure due to Ukraine’s continued strength, leading him to attempt to devastate Kyiv before the winter season arrives.
Alongside this critique of the Russian leadership, Klitschko issued a strong appeal to Ukraine’s Western partners. He called for the immediate reinforcement of air defense capabilities. Specifically, he stressed that Ukraine urgently requires more Patriot interceptor missiles from allies, including those in Germany, to better defend against the ongoing assaults.
