Following the CSD attack in Berlin, Carsten Müller, the Chairman of the Parliamentary Legal Committee in the Bundestag (CDU), is pushing for more efficient coordination among governing bodies. Speaking to the “Rheinische Post”, he stated that the primary goal remains to better safeguard the freedom of society by addressing potential gaps in the current protective concepts through targeted reforms. He emphasized that the discussion regarding these changes must be open and unrestricted.
Among several necessary steps, Müller highlighted the need for intensified and more efficient coordination among the authorities involved-at the federal, state, and municipal levels. This coordination would be responsible for consolidating vital information and making it immediately accessible to those making key decisions.
Müller concluded by noting that the specific improvements required in the wake of the dreadful terror act will only become clear following comprehensive investigations. These investigations will cover the events of the crime, the measures subsequently taken, and any deficiencies that may have existed beforehand.
