Mercedes-Benz Slumps in Q2 Sales, Cuts Revenue Forecast Amid China Dip and Market Slowdown

Mercedes-Benz has recorded a significant decrease in vehicle sales during the second quarter of 2026 compared to the same period last year. According to the corporation’s announcement on Tuesday, the Mercedes-Benz Cars division delivered 417,765 vehicles, falling short of the 453,674 units sold in the previous quarter.

Regionally, the sales decline was partly offset by growth areas; sales rose by four percent in Europe and by ten percent in the United States. However, a 30 percent drop in China continued to heavily burden the figures. Management attributed this persistent decline in the Chinese market to intense competition, subdued demand, and portfolio model changes. Excluding China, global passenger car sales increased by two percent year-over-year.

In financial news, the automaker simultaneously lowered its revenue forecast, now anticipating a slight overall decline. Previously, Mercedes-Benz had projected earnings matching those of the previous year. However, in the first half of the year, revenue fell by approximately four percent, reaching 63.7 billion Euros.
