The German government views the alleged agreement on Hamas disarmament announced by US President Donald Trump positively. Vice government spokesman Sebastian Hille stated on Monday, responding to the dts news agency, that thanks should be extended particularly to the negotiators involved, specifically mentioning Egypt, Turkey, and Qatar.
However, Hille noted that the crucial next step is for the parties involved in the roadmap to agree to implementation without imposing further conditions, allowing Hamas to actually hand over its weapons and commencing concrete action. The German government, he added, is committed to achieving a lasting peace in the region.
Regarding the question of whether Germany would participate in Trump’s announced “international stabilization force” in the Gaza Strip, the spokesman left his answer uncertain.
Prior to the announcement of the agreement on the disarmament of the Gaza Strip, Israel had expressed skepticism, citing “serious security concerns.” In recent times, there has been speculation that Trump may have overstated what he announced.
