The number of asylum applications in Germany continues to show a noticeable decrease. According to data cited by the newspaper “Bild” (Wednesday edition) from the Federal Ministry of the Interior, 4,311 people filed an initial asylum application in July. This figure is nearly half of what was recorded a year earlier. For comparison, 8,293 initial applications were registered nationwide in July 2025, compared to 18,503 in July 2024. Federal Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt (CSU) remarked to “Bild” that they are successfully curbing illegal migration. He emphasized that the government is ensuring that the migration processes in Germany and Europe are guided by clarity and consequence.
