Minister Urges Cannabis Delisting to Enhance Road Safety

Federal Transport Minister Steffen Bilger (CDU) has called for the withdrawal of the partial legalization of cannabis, citing an increasing number of traffic fatalities in Germany. Bilger told the “Rheinische Post” that he still considers the decision to partially legalize cannabis in Germany a major mistake. He argued that as long as the number of road deaths remains high and traffic safety is not improved, this measure sends a poor signal. While the coalition had agreed that the measure must be evaluated, Bilger confirmed that, especially concerning traffic safety, he supports rescinding the partial legalization.
